Michael not guilty of all charges??? What in the world is wrong with people????
Last night my company had a black tie affair in Camden...our "May" ball (even though it is now June). The place ran out of vodka so I started drinking Jack and coke. Bleah. I don't even feel THAT bad...I just feel really really slow. I started off eating a bacon sandwich, then a hash brown, and then an egg mcmuffin. I am disgusting. I've eaten my whole caloric intake for the day. Bleah. Counting the hours til five. I just want to go home and sit on the couch and watch a dvd. I bought Team America, Sideways, Alfie, and 13 Going on 30 in the past 2 weeks. I really liked Team America. Sideways was good but I'm not sure that's the kind of movie I can watch again and again. I also really liked 13 Going on 30. Maybe I'll watch that one again tonight. If my friends are reading this: AC- I hope the Marvel thing went well. I'm really excited for you as well about you know who. SK- read your updated blog. I quite like the haikus. I was getting hungry. DJ- stop being so damn cryptic. and everybody else, I AM going to try and call this month. I forgot to make use of the free Saturdays to America on my phone card but it's also in June. I'll try manana. Thu, May. 26th, 2005, 10:53 am
today is one of those days when i really find it difficult being in london. i'm feeling extremely homesick today. the weather is really nice and i would typically be meeting my friends after work for drinks. i'm feeling really blue. :( on the other hand we have a bank holiday on monday so no work! Last night my agency had this drinks night and pub quiz with one The Guardian. My last two pub quizzes my team came in dead last. Most of the questions were about British celebs and show so I was a wet noodle...no help at all. This time I rocked! My team won and it was thrilling. We lost the first round (tied for last) but then came back to win the second round. We tied the third round but then last in a tie-breaker. Then we won the next three rounds and ultimately won the whole thing but 10 points. Won a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and some vouchers but the real thrill was just in the winng. We also won a round of shots. It was vodka but it was warm...really, really nasty. I normally like vodka but I had never had warm vodka before. Just say no kids. Felt sick after that shot. I don't really drink much these days so I think I'm really, really losing my tolerance for alcohol. I'm getting real old and boring. Sun, May. 15th, 2005, 06:25 pm whoopee
found out that the phone card i buy at the post office is having a promo. i can talk for FREE unlimited to the US on Saturdays all month. next saturday will be on the phone to everyone i know back in the states! Mon, May. 9th, 2005, 10:48 am
friday night just went home and went running with elliot. it was weird because i had no energy and i was going really really slowly. saturday elliot and i watched the wedding date. i really thought it was cute. elliot tried to pretend that he didn't like it but i know he did. there was this rave going on the thames near my apartment. there's this dirty beach area that sometimes gets covered by the tide that the rave was on. i only saw it from the bridge but i could hear trance music and see people with twirling neon lights. i'm not sure if it was legal but nobody seemed to care it was going on. yesterday we went to get dimsum and then did a some grocery shopping. i've been craving korean food and the chinatown groceries sell some. i'm happy that i don't have to trek too far for korean. watched 24 last night and it is getting really, really good. other than that not much over the weekend. weather's not nice enough to sit outside. this week is another busy one. Thu, May. 5th, 2005, 08:26 am hohum
so last night i ran a 5k in battersea park. paula radcliffe apparently was there and shaznay louis from all saints. elliot loves to tell everyone that he sat next to shaznay on the bus once and nobody believes him. now he can at least say he really saw shaznay. there were sooooo many girls there. i think they said almost 7000. couldn't really move for like the first 10-15 minutes. i didn't pass the 1st k until after 11 minutes. i pretty much lost all of coworkers before during and after the run. 5k really seems a breeze now after running a half marathon.
then i rushed home to watch the season finale of the apprentice uk. disappointing. a bit anti-climactic.not even a live announcement of the winner!
i've really gotten into this dip called taramasalata. i had never had it in the states. basically it's made from cod roe and it tastes a lot like lox spread except it's saltier. yum yum yum! Wed, Apr. 20th, 2005, 06:25 pm new pope
Frankly, I'm a bit unhappy about the new Pope. I guess we got what I expected but still I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe that just me. Sun, Apr. 17th, 2005, 06:59 pm marathon
Today I went to go watch the London Marathon. It was a really beautiful day here and there were lots of people outside. It is a crazy hyped up event here that gets lots of TV coverage. In America, the NYC and Boston Marathons are big but after the top people finish that's about it. Here even after the top people had finished, they kept covering the "fun runners." I tried to take a picture on my camera phone of Paul Radcliffe as she is a huge star here but I missed it by a sec and just got the trailing motorcade instead. The half was really tough but I next year I just don't want to stand by the sidelines. Chances are slim for getting a place but I'll try...I think.
I just started a book called The Second Assistant. It's about an assistant's assistant for a Hollywood agent. It is literally making me laugh out loud. Go read it! Wed, Apr. 6th, 2005, 11:17 am tired
So I ran my half marathon in Prague. The weather was just perfect every day we were there. It was great to have really sunny, clear days. Prague is just toooo cheap. The hotel was the same one I went to for my work conference. I highly recommend it: http://www.pragueholiday.cz/irongate.htmlIt's in the center of town and you can walk everywhere easily. First night we ate at the hotel. Good for Czech food 'cept I don't really like Czech food. If you like meat, meat, and more bland meat, you'll like it. Second day I had Italian which was decent. Third I had decent Thai! So bizarre! Then I had crap Italian and then blah Czech. Elliot loved the Czech food but he loves meet and his palate is definitely not as refined as mine. To top it all off at the airport I had tempura and rice! There was a sushi restaurant in the Prague airport that looked reach sketch but the tempura was fine and the rice was sushi rice. The half marathon went well I suppose. I ran it in about 2 hours and 5 minutes. I came in about 2000+ place out of 3500. I need to train harder and more seriously in the future. My legs were seriously aching after the race. Also, I had really bad chafing under my arms and by my ankle (bleeding!). Elliot did really well...about an hour and 25 mins or something. He came in about 140th overall. It's a bummer to be back in London and back at work. Tonight is season finale of America's Top Model and I'm looking forward to that. I didn't sleep very well last night so I'm a bit tired today. I have a lot of things on my mind...a lot of heavy things. It's really hard because I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to a lot of the time. I feel really alone. Sigh...
